Hello again to our friends in the Insider community,

We have been overwhelmed by your glowing response to our commemorative issue. We missed you, too! We hope you’ll like this third installment just as much.

When we started The Insider in 2020 during the pandemic, our slogan was “Hands on the Heart, Six Feet Apart.” Those were the frightening days when we were washing our groceries and avoiding our neighbors.  By 2021, we slowly regained our footing and felt a smidgen of hope that the pandemic would end eventually.  In May 2023, the World Health Organization declared the end of the global Covid health emergency—marking the pandemic’s “end.” Good riddance to bad rubbish!

By that point, however, we were beginning to have our own journalistic identity crisis. As a self-declared pandemic publication, what would we cover if there were no pandemic? Nonetheless, we soldiered on and adopted our current slogan from our musical guru, Bob Dylan: “All the latest gossip, all the latest rhyme.” But in July 2023, we closed up shop, with a bittersweet feeling that we had fulfilled our mission,

Then a funny thing happened…or not such a funny thing. The political situation in the United States shifted dramatically, and there were more dire stories than any one media outlet could begin to report. Was it possible that the need for our type of news coverage still existed in a post-pandemic world?

After having spent a satisfying month back on the digital assembly line, we think the answer is yes. So we are thrilled to announce that we will officially resume publication on Thursday, September 4th! After that, we will be publishing biweekly, every other Thursday. We invite your suggestions, kvetches and submissions by email to editor@theinsider1. com.

See you after Labor Day!

Exuberantly Yours,

Andrea Sachs and the Team at The Insider
